Flying higher! SPSA recycled 57 million beverage cans in 2000-2001 for enough aluminum to make a dozen jumbo jets.
According to Boeing there is 147,000 pounds of aluminum in a 747 aircraft. In fiscal year 2001-2002 SPSA recycled 837.8 tons of aluminum beverage cans or,
according to Connecticut Metals about 57 million cans. 837.8 tons X 2000 pounds = 1,675,600 divided by 147,000 = 11.3 – close to a dozen.

RECYCLING : HOUSEHOLD & CAR BATTERIES Household battery drop boxes are located at SPSA's Household Hazardous Waste collection facilities. SPSA accepts batteries such as AA, C, 6 volt and button batteries for recycling. These batteries are accepted free of charge from area residents at any of our Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facilities.
